A small brown bat with small eyes, large ears and a nose lump. Baggy skin which is grey-brown above and grey below. It flies up to 5 meters above ground hunting for insects in flight or sometimes taking spiders from the ground. Often seen in residential areas, in summer in warm attics and in winter, hibernating in basements or abandoned mine shafts. They curl in their wings close to each other but not against each other. ⇔ hbl. 3-5 cm, tl. 2-3 cm, span 19-25 cm The nose lumps are used for echolocation, a method for judging direction and prey location. LA: The other family members are larger.
