Blue-green head, back and wings. It has a red breast and white under tail. The ♀ is paler and sometimes brownish. The short bill is yellow for the ♂ and black for the ♀. While mating the ♂ gets long tail feathers. Eats mainly fruit, specifically the avocado and lives in treetops. Appears in various Indian and Mexican legends. It symbolizes freedom since it will die when put in a cage. ⇔ l. 36-40 cm, tail up to 65 cm The national bird of Guatemala.
