White butterfly with black-marked wings with black veins, the wing tips are translucent. The under surface is similar. The body has white hairs and the antennae are completely black. They prefer mountainous areas with grassy patches and woodland. ⇔ wsp. 45-60 mm The caterpillar lives on poppy flowers such as Hollowroot. LA: ≈ The PARNASSIUS APOLLO (Apollo) and PARNASSIUS PHOEBUS (Phoebus Apollo) have red markings and white veins. ≈ The PIERIS BRASSICAE (Cabbage butterfly) has no black veins and a yellow under surface. ≈ The APORIA CRATAEGI (Black-veined white) lacks the black markings.
