Large ladybug with lots of variation in colour and markings. The shield can be black, red to yellow with many or few, bold or faint or no dots. The neck shield is white with some black markings forming an M shape or it can be black with some white dots at the side. The larvae develop in several stages and their colours differ slightly from other ladybugs. ⇔ l. 7-9 mm syn. Multicoloured Asian lady beetle, Halloween lady beetle, family: ladybug This beetle has been introduced in Europe and America to attack aphids, they reproduce well and displace native ladybugs. LA: The difference between other COCCINELLIDAE (Ladybugs) is the size, red-brown legs and belly and the colour patterns, the black M on its neck shield and often a dent on its shield end.
