Silver grey coloured with long stalks on both sides, the head is round and the tail is pointed. The antennae, legs and cerci are all yellowish grey. It moves with a waving tail like a fish. Lives in houses where darkness and some moisture is present. Often seen in kitchen or bathroom after switching on the lights, they like moist areas but are not fast moving on hard smooth surfaces. ⇔ l. 12-30 mm LA: ≈ The CTENOLEPISMA LONGICAUDATA (Gray silverfish) prefers drier areas. ≈ And the THERMOBIA DOMESTICA (Firebrat) prefers warmer areas.
