Very small white to blue-grey, as a group they appear to be like wool on a branch. Above surface the aphid has some hairs, below the surface, they have a wax-like exterior.  Some develop wings and will be a little larger, but are generally only noticed when present in large numbers.

Lives on apple trees.  Both larvae and adults feed on twigs and tree sap. They are on the menu of ladybirds.

When squashed it produces a red stain. Originating from North America.
