Shiny black beetle with white markings. Light grey hairs but less hair when older. When sunny they can be found on flowers, on cold days they stay below the surface. As soon as autumn arrives, they hibernate for the winter. ⇔ l. 8-12 mm syn. Flower chafer LA: ≈ The POLYPHYLLA FULLO (Pine chafer) is much larger and has comb-shaped antennae. ≈ The TROPINOTA SQUALIDA (Hairy rose beetle) has fewer dots but more hair.
