A brown frog, typically showing a light back stripe with darker warts alongside. A yellow stripe extends from the corner of the mouth. During mating the ♂ becomes blueish and the ♀ develops thicker front legs, a white throat and a grey shine. The mating lasts approx. 1 week. During mating the blue ♂ gather in a pool croaking while waiting for passing ♀, the croaking sounds like clucking and bubbling. ⇔ l. 5-7 cm LA: ≈ The RANA TEMPORARIA (Common frog) has a larger and less pointed nose. ≈ The RANA DALMATINA (Agile frog) is larger.
