Black yellow beetle with little hair, back and neck shield with yellow markings. A black head with brown antennae and long red yellow legs. Day-active on flowers and deciduous wood, it flies when threatened which makes it look like a wasp so it is often left alone by birds. When in motion, it resembles a wasp. Larvae feed on wood, adults eat mostly pollen. ⇔ l. 9-18 mm LA: ≈ The CHLOROPHORUS VARIUS is inversely coloured, yellow with black markings. ≈ And the RUTPELA MACULATA (Spotted longhorn) is thinner, smoother and with an equal amount of yellow and black.
