Large greenish dragonfly with a copper coloured rear without markings. A bronze green hairy breast, black legs, the eyes are a dim brown becoming bright green later in life. The wing base fades to orange yellow. The ♀ looks more robust than the ♂ which has a narrower start to the rear section. An able flyer, seen far from the water both in lowland and mountainous areas. ⇔ l. 50-55 mm
