Brown yellow skimmer with a wide rear section and on each wing an extra black marking. The front wing veins are yellow as is the wing base, the rear wing base has black markings as well. The young have an orange-yellow rear section, ending in a black tip with yellow side markings, fading with age to become orange-brown. Mostly found at still water. ⇔ l. 40-50 mm syn. Four-spotted skimmer LA: ≈ The LIBELLULA FULVA (Scarce chaser) has black wing tips. ≈ The ♀ LIBELLULA DEPRESSA (Broad-bodied Chaser) lacks the black body tip and has a striking mosaic-like pattern at the front wing base.
