Black orange beetle with 2 jagged orange bands on its black shield. The fans on the antennae and lower leg hairs are orange as well. Hunts on insects feeding on dung and carcasses, in spring they can feed directly on carrion. They bury carrion and lay eggs close to it, the ♀ feed the young until they find the buried carrion. ⇔ l. 10-24 mm syn. NECROPHORUS VESPILLO
