Large red-brown bug with a central yellow marking at the tip of the shield. The shoulder shield is wide with elevated tips and the rear edge is blocked. Both legs and antennae are orange-red and relatively long.

Found in gardens with deciduous forest, it feeds on the sap of plants and dead insects.

≈ The DOLYCORIS BACCARUM  (Sloe bug) is smaller and with more red on its back, it has darker legs and antennae and lacks the shoulder shield tips. 
≈ The RHAPHIGASTER NEBULOSA (Mottled Shieldbug) is more brown yellow coloured with brown legs.
