Jacinta lluch valero
Small beige brown bug with a blunt head and pointed rear end, it is somewhat egg-shaped. Lots of variations in markings and colour. Larvae are greenish yellow. The larvae are found on stems in a self-produced foam-like substance protecting them from dehydration. Once adult mostly found on herb-like plants feeding off the sap. When disturbed it jumps like a frog. ⇔ l. 5-7 mm The family of APHROPHORIDAE is variable in markings and colour making it difficult to visually separate the species. LA: ≈ The CICDELLA CIRIDIS is also small but stays green to blue. Especially on reeds and grasses. The larvae do not use foam as protection. See photo LA.
