Black and beige marked beetle with red-brown bands on its shield, on the neck shield there are little thorn like extrusions. The eyes are black with grey legs and antennae. Prefers pine but seen also on deciduous wood, below bark or on chopped wood. They feed on dead wood. ⇔ l. 12-22 mm
