Large brown spider with some light markings on the rear body section which is dark. On the front body 2 vertical lines. The legs are light brown without clear markings. Often found indoors but also outdoors in rocky terrain. It weaves an untidy funnel web. At night it waits for prey however during the day it hides in the funnel. At dusk it can wander off looking for a better web location or the ♂ is looking for a partner. ⇔ l. 10-18 mm LA: ≈ The TEGENARIA DOMESTICA (Domestic house spider) is smaller with a faint back marking and dark leg markings.
