A small butterfly, the ♂ has white front wings and the ♀ has light brown front wings. Both sexes have white rear wings with a row of brown-black dots and markings. The brown eyes are relatively large. It prefers waterfronts with rich vegetation like duckweed and water plants. ⇔ wsp. 15-25 mm The caterpillars live in the water plants and make a small quiver filled with air from the duckweed, this enables them to move through the duckweed. LA: ≈ The ELOPHILA NYMPHAEATA (Brown china mark) appears white in flight but has brown wings with white markings.
