Large night butterfly with a large eye on each wing and some vertical lines. The ♂ has grey front wings with pinkish markings and yellow rear wings, the antennae are feathered. The ♀ has grey wings and thread-shaped antennae and is larger than the ♂. As butterflies, they do not feed and just live a few days. During the day the ♂ is looking for ♀ that produce a scent to facilitate this. The ♀ is active at night. Young caterpillars are black, becoming bright green with black, pink or yellow markings. ⇔ wsp. 40-90 mm syn. EUDIA PAVONIA, PAVONIA PAVONIA
