Small blue butterfly, the upper surface of the ♂ is dark blue and for the ♀ brown with a blue tinge with a small orange eye on the rear wing. For both sexes, the under surface is light grey with black markings and a distinctive orange-blue eye along the rear wing edge. Prefers heath with small ponds and cranberry, blueberry bushes. ⇔ wsp. 30-32 mm syn. PLEBEIUS OPTILETE LA: The whole family is similar in many respects and are typically separated by the markings on the under-surface of the wings.
