A small moth, white to pearl white in colour with a wide brown edge along the wings. The long thread-shaped antennae and head are brown. There is a dark variation, which is dark purple-brown and only a marking on the front wing edge remains white. The caterpillar is yellow-green with lighter lines and black dots on which prickly hairs grow. It feeds on box trees (Buxus) and can eat a lot! ⇔ wsp. 40-45 mm syn. CYDALIMA PERSPECTALIS
