Black fly with a prominent yellow face. The wings are black with a yellow-orange base, the feet are yellow. Likes to sun itself on trees or flowers and feeds on nectar. Found mostly on sandy soil along forest edges. Eggs are laid in dung where the larvae feed on other fly eggs. ⇔ l. 9-13 mm
