Golden black fly with a blueish black marking on the rear. The ♂ has a crown shaped yellow marking on the black front body and the ♀ is smaller with a black grey breast. The wings have a yellow marking at the base although for the ♀ it is hardly visible. Mostly at forest edges. Eggs are laid in larvae of herbivorous bugs, therefore often seen on umbellifers. ⇔ l. 8-13 mm Originally from central and south Europe now slowly migrating towards northern Europe.
