Small thrush with red flanks and undersurface of wings. Clear brown back, lighter breast with dark speckle lines. A very distinctive face marking with white eyebrows. ⇔ l. 20-22 cm A migratory bird breeding in Scandinavia and wintering in Europe and Asia. The national bird of Turkey. LA: ≈ Differs from the TURDUS VISCIVORUS ( Mistle thrush) by its white eyebrow and red flanks.
