Brown mouse-like bird, marked like bark with a white belly and a white eyebrow. A long forked tail and a slightly curved beak. Both genders the same. Mostly seen creeping up tree trunks looking for insects. Its call is fluent but very high pitched so it can't be heard by everyone. ⇔ l. 12-13 cm syn. Eurasian treecreeper LA: ≈ The CERTHIA BRACHYDACTYLA (Short-toed Treecreeper) is very similar but has a louder call and it can be found further in south-west Europe, though there is an overlap of where they can be found.
