Top surface brown with a white band and one eye on the front wing. Underside has a wide, clear separated band on the rear wing and an eye on the front wing. Mostly seen with closed wings on tree trunks, hardly ever on flowers. ⇔ wsp. 60-70 mm LA: ≈ The SATYRUS ACTAEA (Black satyr) is smaller but has a larger eye. And is especially to be found in rocky territory. ≈ The CHARAXES JASIUS (Two-tailed pasha) roasts the same fruit trees but has a red line instead of a white one in flight.
