Black yellow wasp, on the rear only the front black stripes have half dot extensions. Black feelers and a yellow black edged face with a dot between the eyes. The nests are often in trees but sometimes below the surface. ⇔ l. 20-22 mm LA: ≈ The VESPULA VULGARIS (common wasp) and VESPULA GERMANICA (German wasp) has clear black markings in the yellow of the rear body.
