Small brown white butterfly, on the front wing a wide grey brown band and along the edge a lighter coloured brown band. On the rear wings two lighter bands with white in between. Found in sandy areas, flying during the day and at twilight. Often seen on forest roads drinking from wet soil. ⇔ wsp. 28-34 mm LA: ≈ The XANTHORHOE MONTANATA (Silver-ground carpet) has white in the center of the grey-brown band. ≈ SCOPULA DECORATA (Middle lace border) has a brown band at the rear of the wings. ≈ MESOLEUCA ALBICILLATA (Beautiful carpet) has the dark band directly at the head.
