Black red moth, the front wings are bluish black with a red front edge and two red dots alongside the rear edge. The rear wings are bright red with a dark edge, head and body are black. Can be found on grass patches and roadsides. ⇔ wsp. 33-43 mm By eating the poisonous JACOBAEA VULGARIS (Ragwort) the caterpillar, as well as the butterfly, become poisonous themselves. LA: Very similar to some members of the ZYGAENIDAE (Burnet) family but each with its own specific markings.
